Shivalik Academy win volleyball meet

Chandigarh, May 5
Spikers of Shivalik Volleyball Academy, Sector 41, Chandigarh won the state- level volleyball tournament concluded at Haripurdhar (Sirmaur district), Himachal Pradesh yesterday. Eight teams took part in the tournament and in the final, Shivalik Volleyball academy boys downed Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Shimla 3-0, the scores being 25-20, 25-22, 27-25.

Raju Chauhan, Ravinder and Vinod Negi Libro were the star performers of the meet. Mr DS Bedi, Director Principal of the Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, Chandigarh, said earlier also their academy players were the key performers in the National junior volleyball meet when Chandigarh had won the title after 30 years.

He said the boys were being provided best of the facilities like free education, boarding and specialised training.

Mr Mohan Nagreta, Sports Authority of India coach with the academy said ever since the start of the new session, the boys had won various other tournaments. On April 22, in a state-level tournament held at Rohru, Simla, Shivalik academy boys won by beating SAI Sports hostel, Bilaspur.

Then Shivalik boys bagged the Youth Sports Club cash prize, at a sports meet held in Chandigarh.
