No fire safety for city high-rise buildings
Chandigarh, February 28
Occupants of more than 400 high-rise buildings (more 15 metres) in the city live under continuous threat of a heavy loss in case of any fire. The city does not have a single fire tender capable of combating fire in high-rise buildings which are scattered all over the city.

7 petrol station owners get notices
Told to plant trees
Dera Bassi, February 28
The Punjab Forest Department has issued notices to the owners of seven petrol stations asking them to plant trees and plants within the land between two exit points of each filling station and fences them. The department has also asked the owners of these petrol stations to reply within in 15 days from the issuance of notices.

Rally against steel price hike

Hundreds of industrialists from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and Dera Bassi and Chanalon today carried out a massive rally to protest against the steel price rise. PU Syndicate approves 10 pc fee hike
Chandigarh, February 28
A 10 per cent hike in fee for all under-graduate and post-graduate courses being run by Panjab University on the campus was approved for the forthcoming session by the Syndicate at its meeting held on the campus, here today.

PU to revive 5 more scholarships
Chandigarh, February 28
After successfully reactivating 10 research scholarships in the last year, five more such scholarships would be revived in the coming academic session. Their amount, too, has been hiked from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,600 per month.

Guldasta brings riot of colours
Mohali, February 28
The first flower show of Mohali, Guldasta, started at Silvi Park here today amid a riot of colours and festivity. Inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Mr Bir Devinder Singh, the festival attracted thousands of residents to the venue where impeccable arrangements were made to ensure its success.

BJP’s tractor gimmick
