Fill posts, demand unemployed teachers
Our Correspondent

Amloh, December 31
A combined meeting of unemployed teachers (ETT) of Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib districts was held at the local Government Secondary School on Monday.
At the meeting, chaired by Mr Mandeep Singh, state committee member and district president of Fatehgarh Sahib, resentment was expressed over the delay in the selection of elementary teachers for regular appointment against vacant posts.

A press note said one month had elapsed since the Cabinet had accorded its approval to 2010 ETT posts, but the government had not initiated the process to make the appointments. The vacant posts were a serious loss to the students, it added.

Mr Harpreet Singh Goldy, general secretary of the union, said that the government claim on having raised the standard of education was false, as schools in the state suffered from want of teachers. Among others, Ludhiana district chief Jaswinder Singh, Mr Randhir Singh, Noor Pura, Gurnam Singh Cheema, Mr Gurtej Singh, Ms Asha Rani, Ms Jyoti Sharma, Ms Sunita Khanna and Ms Harpreet Kaur also spoke.
