Hair oil co fined for failing to blacken grey hair
Our Correspondent

Bhiwani, December 22
A youth of the local Krishna Colony who wanted to blacken his grey hair was duped by a Delhi-based hair oil company. The youth approached the consumer forum which fined the company.

The aggrieved youth, Surender Pal, son of Mohan Lal, read an advertisement guaranteeing blackening of grey hair. He went to Saini Hair Centre in New Delhi and got his name registered with the firm by depositing Rs 50 on October 11, 1993.

According to his complaint, which he filed with the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Bhiwani, the company in-charge gave him a few medicines on the spot and a few were sent by VPP at Bhiwani. Surender Pal bought medicines worth Rs 22,000 from the market on the recommendation of the company whereas medicines worth Rs 18,000 were sold to him by the company itself.

Despite spending a huge amount his hair did not get blackened, rather it started falling. Complaints were made to the company but all in vain. When he demanded his money back his plea was rejected. Later, he filed a complaint with the forum.

Surender Pal submitted the advertisement cutting, registration fee slip but failed to present receipts for the amount he spent on the medicines. The forum, hearing both the parties, directed the company to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation and Rs 1,000 as litigation charges to the victim. The company will have to pay 10 per cent interest if it fails to pay compensation within two months.

New Delhi, December 22
Gallerie Ganesh in the Capital’s Shridharni Gallery for the next nine days will host a delectable fare for the art lovers. While the year is slowly winding its way back, Paresh Maity’s spectacular work paves into the regions of celebration.

Canvas after canvas bears testimony to the many moods of life. Contemplation, harmony, symphony, togetherness and celebration all have a place in the lexicon of Maity’s creation.

A product of the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, and College of Art, Delhi, Maity has been the recipient of Harmony Award, the British Council Visitorship and Royal Watercolour Society, London, among many others.

Skilful and imaginative, the strikes of oil on canvas have been adorned with the colours closer to life. The faces in his drawings are contemplative and the colours stark.

He participated in auctions at Bonhams, London, in association with the Modi Foundation, Erotica, Gallerie Mohanjeet Paris, Art Workshop in Bangladesh and International Art Camp, Hungary.

The inspiration behind the recent paintings has been “Ooty with its cool climes and its rapturous women with long hair”.
