Ludhiana, December 17
On the basis their performance during the three-day athletics meet of the North Zone Athletics Meet of the Life Insurance Corporation of India held here at the Punjab Agricultural University ground on December 12 and 13, the following 10
athletes have been selected to represent the zonal team in the forthcoming All-India LIC Athletics Championship slated to be
organised during the second week of next month in Hyderabad.
The position holders in the meet were given prizes at a function organised here yesterday. P.J. Singh of Bikaner division was adjudged best athlete in the men section. Mr P.K. Rath, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC, Ludhiana, distributed the prizes among the winners.
The following athletes were picked up for the All India Meet: (Men) — Sunil Goswami of Delhi division (javelin throw); P.J. Singh of Bikaner division (shot put and discus throw); S S Maan of Bikaner division (discus throw); Karnail Singh of Karnal division (hammer throw); J.S. Brar of Chandigarh division (shot put and javelin throw) and
Rohtas Kumar of Delhi division (javelin throw).
Women — Gurmeet Kaur of Delhi division (javelin throw, shot put and discus throw); Renu Sharma of Delhi division (400m, 400m hurdles and long jump); Ritu Sharma of Delhi division (hammer throw and shot put) and Kamlesh of Bikaner division (discus throw and hammer throw).
