Students to get exam centre of their choice

All students who will appear privately in the examination to be conducted by the Punjab School Education Board this year will get centres of their choice.

Narrow escape for Excise officers

Two Excise and Taxation Officers had a narrow escape on early Tuesday morning after a three wheeler load carrier driver tried to run them over. While one of them, Mr A.L. Bansal sustained a multiple fracture in his wrist, another Mr Lal Singh escaped with minor injuries.

The Bank of India (BOI) today converted its main branch in the city into fully air-conditioned branch with multi banking facilities to the clients at a function here. Ms T. A. D’mellow, General Manager of the bank, performed the ceremony in the presence of the large number of customers.

Farmers still await payment

The government’s claim of handling well the procurement of farm produce in grain markets is false as it has failed to make payments to farmers within 72 hours of paddy procurement. Markfed, Punsup, Punjab Agro food and civil supplies agencies were involved in the procurement of paddy in Amloh grain market.

Dhindsa befooling farmers, says Rajewal

In the garb of crop insurance, the Union Government has finally decided to crush the farm economy and farmers of Punjab in one go. In a press note issued here today, Mr Balbir Singh Rajewal, national General Secretary of the Bharti Kisan Union, strongly condemned the statement of the Sunam MLA, Mr Parminder Singh Dhindsa, who had claimed that this scheme was a gift for the farmers of Sangrur district by his father, Mr Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
