Sonepat, October 3
Alleging cheating in the counselling for admissions to the MBBS and BDS courses in the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, the students who failed to get admission and their guardians have threatened to challenge the admissions in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
One Harish Bhardwaj, who got 585 rank in the entrance test, informed that the students like him in higher ranks were deprived of the admission opportunities allegedly under a conspiracy and the students with lower ranking around 1100 have been given admissions.
Demanding an inquiry into the admissions, Harish said that when number of students were waiting for their turn around 5 pm on last Tuesday’s counselling, they were informed by the authorities that all the seats for MBBS and BDS courses have been filled and as the recognition of the Gurgaon BDS college has been cancelled, no further admissions would be given.
He further stated that after this announcement most of the students and their guardians returned to their homes. But, as alleged by Harish, the administration restored the recognition of the Gurgaon BDS college in the night around 10 pm on the same day and immediately started counselling. Which continued up to 4 am next day.
In the nightlong counselling, the authorities gave admission to the students of their choice, as the other students with higher ranks did not know about the derecognition and re-recognition of the Gurgaon college, he alleged.
Harish and three guardians of other students told to mediapersons that they have urged the state government to order for re-counselling. If their demand is not accepted, they would challenge the admissions in the High Court, they threatened.
