Bogus voters: CEO debunks charges
New Delhi, September 23
Reacting to the allegations of political parties, including the BJP, that fake and bogus voters’ names were included in the electoral rolls of Delhi, the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Arun Goyal, said the allegations were based on twisted facts and were totally unfounded.

In the run-up to the Assembly elections in the Capital in the ensuing months, the Delhi BJP today accused the Congress government in Delhi of “conspiring” to get almost five lakh bogus voters registered for the elections.

Student beaten to death for refusing lift to youth

Sandeep Sharma, a student of class XI in Government Senior Secondary School, Murthal village, was done to death by a youth, Anil, at Bhigan village, about 10 km from here, yesterday.

Youth murders issueless uncle

Overwhelming greed led a youth to murder his uncle (younger brother of his father) in connivance with his friends. The victim was axed to death in Kushalya village under the Massoori police station.

The Gurgaon Industrial Association (GIA) has welcomed the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in which it has directed the Pollution Control Board to identify polluting units, and not to shift other units functional in the residential area falling within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council.

In a devastating fire in a Magnum Paper Mill in Site-IV Link Road area of Sahibabad, goods worth lakhs were gutted. The goods include readymade paper and raw material. A mobile oil store of 30,000 litre was also destroyed in the blaze.

Widow stabbed by relatives

A widow was attacked with knives by her relatives who had been trying to usurp her land for a long time in Chhatnora village. She was rushed to a nursing home. The police have not registered the FIR so far.

The body of an unidentified aged man (55) was found floating in a well near the Gaushala at Sisana village about 25 km from here yesterday.

The Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) complex at Kundli village, along the Haryana-Delhi border, has failed to develop as the “promised” industrial hub in the region. The disillusioned industrialists blame the lack of basic infrastructure for the present scenario in which a number of units have closed down and others are on the verge of shifting to other areas.
