HC Additional Registrar booked for corruption
Chandigarh, September 23
Suspended Registrar (Additional) of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Tara Chand was booked by the police here today under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1998, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

8 petrol station owners booked

Hundreds of vehicle owners may feel relieved at the booking of erring petrol pump operators by the Weighs and Measures Cell in the UT Industrial Department. These petrol stations were allegedly dispensing less quantity of petrol and diesel, while showing the correct meter reading to the consumers.

Kalam to open NIPER facility

Court summons five for perjury

Acting on an application moved by Mr S.K. Vohra, a local court today summoned five persons for trying to mislead the court by distorting the facts and also by concealing material facts. Those summoned, including Sanjeev Kumar, have been asked to appear in the court on November 24.

Baring the squalor of politics

Set in the 14th century, “Zille Subhani”, today’s presentation at Tagore Theatre, sought to bare the ugly face of power and politics. Written to recreate that period in history which takes off from the death of Alla-ud-din Khilji and proceeds to focus on the coronation of Mohammed Tughlaq, today’s production by the NSD Repertory company was all about analysing the dirty planks that shroud the bitter realities about rulers and their designs.

Nature Cure Centre attracts many

Chandigarh, September 23
The nature cure centre at Kalagram in Mani Majra, which was opened on June 14, has been providing all sorts of treatment for obesity and various chronic diseases. With the opening of the centre, Kalagram has recorded a rise in the number of visitors. The centre, which functions under Dr Bindu Gupta, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), and a B.Ed in yoga offers treatment for obesity, hypertension, arthritis, depression, skin diseases, asthma, cervical, diabetes and various chronic diseases.

Medical camp at Bapu Dham Colony

City to host national triathlon meet

Corporation loses lakhs as taxi stands mushroom

Taxi mafia, operating in the city, is causing loss running into lakhs to the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh. As per an estimate, the mafia as of now has almost 35 to 40 unauthorised taxi stands in the city. There are currently 43 authorised taxi stands in Chandigarh.
