The Tihar Jail authorities have moved the apex court, seeking to settle the question of medical expenses of an inmate who refused treatment at the AIIMS and opted instead for the luxury ward in a private hospital. The perplexed jail authorities want a court directive on who should bear the medical expenses of the inmate.

The students of Delhi College of Engineering have bagged ‘The Best Endeavor Award’ at Formula Student 2003 held in the UK. The 16-member team built a formula race car from the scratch, and after a year-and-a-half-long planning, execution and coordination exercise, decided to pit it against the technical expertise and engineering prowess of top universities in the world, at the annual competition at Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds, Leicestershire.

TV journalist commits suicide
New Delhi, July 13
Aruna Vishwanathan, a TV journalist working with a private channel, reportedly committed suicide by taking poison in her house in Indra Puram area in Ghaziabad. The extreme step came to light yesterday when one of her friends went to her place. She suspected that something had happened as the main gate was open.

Amid reports that the level of sub-soil water has been consistently going down for the last many years in the district due to insufficient rains and excessive pumping out of the water through tubewells, various departments in the district except the Haryana Urban Development Authority have failed to implement the rainwater harvesting schemes.

Wanted criminal held after encounter

The Ghaziabad police today claimed to have arrested a notorious criminal, Aas Mohammed, who was wanted in connection with a sensational robbery in a petrol pump following an exchange of fire in the Sehani Gate area late last night. No one was injured in the exchange of fire.

A delegation of 17 principals under the aegis of the International Progressive Schools Educational and Adventure Forum visited Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka on an invitation extended by the Ministry of Education and Tourism Board of the countries concerned. HC dismisses minister’s plea on electricity charges

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition filed by former Cabinet minister and Congress MP Ghani Khan Chaudhary seeking to quash a demand letter of more than Rs 22 lakh towards payment of outstanding electricity and water charges in respect of his official residence in the national Capital.

Haryana to host sub-junior national korfball

The fourth Sub-Junior National Korfball Championship will be held in Haryana in September while the 11th Junior National Korfball Championship will be held in Gujarat in November 2003. The 17th Senior National Championship will be held in Goa in December.
