Mine blast kills five in Nepal
Kathmandu, December 8
At least five persons were killed and 30 injured today when a powerful landmine, suspected to be triggered by Maoist rebels, blew up a bus, the police said. The passengers in the bus included soldiers and policemen. It was attacked on a highway near Karkare village in Sindhuli district, 200 km south-east of the capital. The dead included a bus cleaner, a security official and a passenger, the state radio said. PTI

Town tense
Jaipur, December 8
The situation in Manoharpur town of Rajasthan, where an idol inside a temple was found broken on Friday, remained tense today with business establishments remaining closed for the third day to protest against the desecration, a senior police official said. PTI

Blast in Delhi
New Delhi, December 8
A low-intensity explosive was hurled outside the house of a TV journalist in East Delhi in the wee hours today without causing any damage or injury, the police said. A cracker type explosive was hurled towards the house of Zee News correspondent Navin Kumar in Laxmi Nagar at 4 a.m. PTI
