NHRC notice to police
New Delhi, November 6
The National Human Rights Commission today issued notice to the Delhi police seeking a report on the Ansal Plaza shoot-out case, which was alleged to be a fake encounter by an eyewitness, and directed it to provide protection to the eyewitness of the case. On a petition moved by eminent journalists and Parliamentarian Kuldip Nayar and Praful Bidwai, the NHRC directed the police to file its report on the incident with in one week. It also asked the Director-General (Investigation) of the commission to be in touch with the police to ensure the compliance of its report, Mr Bidwai said. UNI
