Hans, Sehgal add charm to book release function

The name of poet Dr Sardar Anjum is enough to draw a crowd but the nazms of his latest book “Haseem - e- naaz” were sung by Hans Raj Hans and Vinod Sehgal during the book release function, the deal could not get better than this for the Chandigarh art lovers who thronged Tagore Theatre to watch his 23rd publication as well as listen to the famous singers.

The evening belonged to the “Khalifa” of Delhi Gharana of Hindustani classical vocal music, Iqbal Ahmed Khan, who enthralled the audience at the auditorium of Evening Studies on Panjab University campus today. He lived upto the expectations not only as the able disciple of ‘Sangeet Martand’ Ustad Chand Khan but also as the head of one of the oldest gharanas of Indian classical music.

Family awareness camp

In a family awareness camp held at a dispensary in Khuda Alisher village, women coming for ante-natal check-up were given folic acid tablets to avoid anaemia and were advised to get tetanus
toxoid injected. A free eye check-up camp and cataract operation was also held in the village. Free medicines were provided to around 150 OPD patients, while 20 were identified for cataract operation.
New dialysis machine at GH-16

Kidney patients will not be forced to shell out extra money after rushing to private clinics for dialysis. Another machine, imported from Japan, has been installed at General Hospital Sector 16 for the convenience of the patients. With this the number of dialysis machines has now increased to two.
AIDS awareness talk at MCM College
