Rain likely in Himachal New Delhi, September 8 Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh, at many places in west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and east Rajasthan. Weather was dry in west Rajasthan. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Haryana: Naraingarh 13, Dadupur 11, Tajewala 9, Jagadhari 4 and Ambala 3. Chandigarh 6. Himachal Pradesh: Nahan 9, Dharamsala 8, Nadaun 7, Berthin 6, Kahu and Shimla 4 each, Kasol, Rampurbushar, Sujanpurtira, Sunibhajji and Una 3 each, Guler, Kangra, Kasauli and Sundernagar 2 each and Bhuntar, Ghamroor, Nagrotasurian and Pandoh 1 each. Punjab: Nangal 5, Ropar 4, Adampur 3 and Jagraon 1 and Uttaranchal: Hardwar 3 and Dehra Dun, Marora, Mukteshwar and Uttarkashi 1 each. Forecast valid until the morning of September 10: Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in west Rajasthan. Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours. Rain lashes region, temperatures drop Chandigarh, September 8 The city was drenched after receiving 70 mm of rain since yesterday. After the downpour, mercury dropped five degrees below normal today to settle at 28.2° C, the Meteorological Department said here. Ambala was lashed by 33 mm of rain and the high there dropped by six degrees at 29.4 ° C. In Punjab, rain lashed Ludhiana, Patiala and Amritsar. The respective highs at these places, all below normal, were recorded at 30.5 ° C, 29.4 ° C and 32.6 ° C. Heavy rain also lashed the Nangal dam area at 47.6 mm. Most places in Himachal were also lashed by heavy rains. Shimla had received 18 mm of rain until this evening even as it was lashed by heavy rain overnight at 43.2 mm.
