With anxiety writ on their faces, they waited outside cyber cafes for their turn to browse the Internet till late evening but without much luck.
Students of Class X, on hearing the news that the Class X CBSE results were out on the Internet earlier than announced, flocked cyber cafes in the city to check on their performance.

CAT notice to Health Ministry on CGHS

Hundreds take part in shramdan

Cases registered against two parties
Kansal, May 27
The Naya Gaon police station today registered ‘cross cases’ against two ‘warring’ parties of Kansal village. The two parties had allegedly attacked each other and members of both sides sustained injuries. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Man found dead
Panchkula, May 27
An unidentified man, about 45, was found dead near the Primary Health Centre in Old Panchkula here this evening. People in the area said they had seen the man wandering in the area two days ago. He appeared to be a labourer.

One booked for kidnapping
Chandigarh, May 27
Acting on the complaint of Mr Thaneshwar Panthi, working as a cook with Punjab Minister Raghunath Sahai, the UT police registered a case of kidnapping and criminal intimidation against Tinku, a contractor, late in the evening today.

Rickshaw-puller booked for rape

An 18-year-old resident of Una, working as a house maid, was allegedly raped by a rickshaw-puller while she was returning from Sector 16 after completing the day’s work.

College lecturers meet Adviser

32 colleges accredited
Chandigarh, May 27
Performance evaluation and assessment of 32 more colleges and universities in the country have been completed during the past three months. The executive committee of National Assessment and Accreditation Council has accredited these 32 institutions, according to Prof V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Director, NAAC. With this, NAAC has completed the assessment and accreditation of 261 institutions.

41 students given mementoes

A memorable evening for the ‘brilliant’ students of the city, who scored more than 90 percent marks in the Class X examination conducted by the ICSE, was organised by a travel company last evening . As many as 41 students from seven institutions were given mementoes followed by dinner at a hotel.

Bank employees granted bail
Dera Bassi, May 27
Accused of not returning money after a stipulated period, three persons, including two employees of a co-operative bank, were arrested by the police here today. Police sources said Ram Swaroop, a resident of Chhat Kishangarh, and two employees of Ramgarh-located branch of the bank — Gobind Singh and Suresh Kumar — who were declared defaulters by the bank authorities, were arrested today.

The disciplinary committee of the Bar Council of India has stayed the order passed by the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana regarding the removal of Mr A.K. Maleri from the role of advocates.

A proposal to rent the building of the Punjab Kala Bhavan to raise funds for the staff of the Punjab Sangeet Natak Academy by the Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Punjab, Ms Geetika Kalha, triggered a lot of resentment among artistes who met at the Punjab Kala Bhavan here today.

Awareness programme on heart ailments

The Annie Heart and Medical Centre in Sector 15 here has evolved an awareness programme for heart patients — “Dil Ke Maamle Men, Dimaag Se Len Kaam” — under which heart patients along with people in general would be made aware of the symptoms of heart disease along with the prevention aspects.
