Residents, look out. If you are not an expert driver, do not even think of passing through the parking lot in front of hotels and restaurants in Sector 35. Chances are that you will waste your entire time and energy, shifting gears from reverse to forward in an attempt to make your way through the haphazardly parked vehicles.

The telecom industry — basic and mobile phone service providers, has pinned hopes on the Union Budget-2002 for increase of affordability of services as well as handsets.
Shocking condition for replacing power cable

Strange, but true — if the cable that carries power to your house is exposed at any place, weathered or burnt, you may have to shell out Rs 1,000 or more for getting it replaced, even though the Electricity Department is supposed to do it.
Jana Shatabdi to be on rails by May
Chandigarh, February 27
New trains announced for Chandigarh in the Railway Budget yesterday are not likely to start on April 1, when the new Budget comes into force.
Sources said the Jana Shatabdi would start running between Chandigarh and Delhi only by May or June.
Bank employees’ date with poetry

It was yet another day dedicated to literary excellence. Serving the mighty purpose of bringing poems to the light of the day was the Bank Town Official Language Implementation Committee which enabled staff members of various Chandigarh-based banks to recite their poetry before a distinguished gathering of poets with a national standing.

Cong councillors hold meeting
Chandigarh, February 27
Congress councillors here today held an hour-long meeting, apparently to chalk out a strategy to counter the BJP attack on it for allowing 2 per cent property tax on commercial property and 1.5 per cent on government buildings in the budget meeting of the Municipal Corporation tomorrow.

Bees attack lensman
Chandigarh, February 27
S.P. Biswas, lensman of a Hindi daily, was stung by a swarm of bees at the
entrance to District Courts. Mr Biswas was here to cover the case of the Deputy Commissioner Customs and Central Excise of Ludhiana, Amresh Jain. The attack came when he was waiting for the CBI officials at the gate.
A clarification

Apropos to a news item “waiting for the police to wake up” that appeared in the columns of this newspaper on February 26, Mr Sanjiv Nehra has clarified that Mr Anurag Aggarwal had sold off 100 original shares of the UTI to his client, Mr T.C. Goyal. He said, he was operating on behalf of Mr Goyal and that Mr Aggarwal was not ready to give duplicate shares issued to him.
