HC dismisses Tyagi’s bail plea
Mumbai, July 4
The Mumbai High Court today dismissed on merits the anticipatory bail plea of former Police Commissioner R. D. Tyagi and ordered him to surrender before the police on August 8, unless he obtained a stay from the Supreme Court. Delivering the verdict, Mr Justice A.B. Palkar refused to stay his own order. PTI

Transport strike
Siliguri, July 4
Normal life was affected in Darjeeling hills since morning due to a dawn-to-dusk transport strike by the Hill Transport Joint Action Committee (HTJAC), Additional District Magistrate Rajesh Pandey said. No untoward incident was reported. PTI
