Dead skin treatment launched

Chandigarh, June 27
Jordanian dead skin treatment were launched by director VLCC, Ms Vandana Luthra, here today.

About 15 new products made from Dead Sea in Jordan include treatment for removing dead skin, inch loss program, skin rejuvenation, better blood circulation and tightening of the skin. With the use of new products, total discoloration goes away within six months, claimed Ms Luthra.

The VLCC has introduced Dead Sea treatment at its centres countrywide. These facials will help in restoring essential minerals along with rejuvenating, revitalising and replenishing skin.

“The mineral contents of the Dead Sea in Jordan are ten times higher than normal salts and are in natural form. The dead sea salts are being used for therapeutic reasons and also for rejuvenating the skin since they have exceptionally valuable properties”, added Ms Vandana.

An academy for training of beauty health and management will be inaugurated in Delhi on July 16. A similar academy will be inaugurated in Chandigarh after one year.

Clarification on DHS’s order

The Indian Medical Association President, Dr G.S. Kochchar, confirmed today that only gynaecologists having the facility of ultrasound would have to get themselves registered with the UT Health Department.

Following instructions from the Union Health Ministry, the UT Director, Health Services (DHS), Dr Rameshwar Chander, had said it would be mandatory for all clinics, nursing homes, hospitals and laboratories, with ultrasound machines, to get themselves registered with the UT Health Department.Back

 

22 children attending tennis camp

The Future Kids Coaching Camp-cum-Tournament for budding tennis players of the country as envisaged by the All-India Tennis Association (AITA) entered the second day today with 22 boys, including five girls, flexing their muscles at the tennis stadium, Sector 10.

Wg Cdr Beyant Singh, chief coach of the CLTA, was of the opinion that the promising tennis players above the age of 12 normally get the exposure as far as the training camps and tournaments at international and national level were concerned. But the current AITA scheme was a step in the right direction to nurture the present lot of players.

The kids will attend the camp till June 28 and on the last three days tournament will be played on league basis. It will have different pools and two top boys from each group enter the next stage of the event. Ultimately, among the final group two players from each group will qualify for the zonal camp of north zone to be held in New Delhi. Then top four players from each zone will have a combined coaching camp and finally they will be groomed under the AITA’s guidance. The AITA will also have national-level camps and tournaments under this category from next year onwards.

Mr Kailash Nath, General Manager, CLTA, said there was a limit to each camp and the permissible limit was not more than 16 boys and eight girls allowed to each state.

The youngsters attending the camp are: girls — Shradha Singh, Pallak Grewal, Inayat Khosla, Ankita Singh and Jasneet Kaur.

Boys — Uday K. Punia, Shiva Sangwan, Amit Chauhan, Siddharth Singh, Sidhharth Prasher, Abhijeet Kaplish, Gaurav Inder, Anant Vidur, Tanveer Sandhu, Akshat Joshi, Tushar Narang, Mandeep Yadav, Gurmohit Singh, Dev Karan, Harry Amol, Arjun Saigal and Tushar Kapoor.

City to host National Roller Hockey Camp

The second phase of the National Roller Hockey Camp in both men and women sections will be held from July 26 at Chandigarh. This was stated by Mr Inder Pal Singh, Advisor to the President of the Roller Skating Federation of India. Mr Inder Pal Singh said the first phase of the camp had ended on June 15. He said since maximum skaters were from the North, so camp was preferred at Chandigarh which now has the best skating rink facilities in the region. The camp will be held at two places, Skating rink, Sector 10 and KB DAV Centenary School, Sector 7.

He said the final team will participate in the Asian Roller Skating Meet to be held at Chinese Taipei in the last week of September. In the last Asian skating meet held at Shanghai (China) in 1999, Indian women had secured a bronze medal. Mr Inder Pal Singh said prior to that Indian skating team will also take part in the World Non Olympic Games to be held at Moscow( Russia) in the mid of August.

Swimming meet

The Chandigarh Swimming Association has postponed the forthcoming 14th Chandigarh Open Senior, Junior and Sub Junior Swimming Championship in both boys and girls sections scheduled to begin from June 29 at Panjab University swimming pool. This was stated by Mr J.P. Sharma, secretary of the CSA. He said the change had been necessitated due to renovation work going at the venue. The new dates will be announced shortly.

Panel to finalise electric trolley-bus project

The Union Ministry of Urban Development yesterday informed the Chandigarh Administration that a nine- member-high powered committee had been formed to give final shape to the electric trolley-bus project for the city.

The chairperson of the committee will be the Adviser to the UT Administrator, Ms Neeru Nanda. Other members will include a nominee of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Technical, Union Urban Development Ministry, the UT Home Secretary, the Finance Secretary, the Chief Engineer and the Chief Architect.

Besides this two secretary-level officials will be nominated by the respective state governments of Punjab and Haryana.

This as the two state governments have agreed to partially fund the project for operation of the buses in SAS Nagar and Panchkula also. In a recent co-ordination meeting between the two states and the Chandigarh Administration, it was brought out that affectivity of the project would be better if the two townships were also covered under the project.

About 2 lakh people — come to Chandigarh for work daily and return in the evening.

Meanwhile, the Urban Development Ministry in its communique to the Administration, has said that the committee will meet and take decisions before the project is accorded a final sanction. The electric trolley-bus project envisages operation of buses run by over head power cables.

The UT Administrator Lieut-Gen J.F.R. Jacob (retd) has been taking keen interest in the project and has even asked the Chief Architect to make provision to have a stand for these buses in the new ISBT in Sector 43.
