Sack Petroleum Minister: CPM Rohtak, June 25 The state secretariat of the CPM, after two-days of discussions here, said the charges of clandestine distribution of petrol pumps and gas agencies to many BJP leaders and their close relatives had been publically levelled and the accused leaders and the Union Minister had failed to deny the charges. The CPM state secretary, Mr Inderjit Singh, said the party considered the revelations as grave in nature as the allegations had been levelled by BJP activists themselves, who had been sidelined during the arbitrary distribution of petrol pumps and gas agencies. The state unit of the party has decided to apprise the CPM MPs and those belonging to opposition parties to raise this matter in Parliament and seek the resignation of Petroleum Minister Ram Naik. Mr Inderjit referred to a criminal case registered at Ghraunda police station, Karnal, last month in which the Personal Secretary of the Petroleum Minister and Mr Ram Naik himself had been mentioned as being present when the illegal gratification of Rs 2.50 lakh were given by the complainant for getting a petrol pump allotted. He said the startling revelations as exposed by BJP men are of concrete nature and revealed shady deals involving bribery, favouritism, nepotism and misuse of office for party
interests. Therefore, the CPM had decided to urge the President of India to dismiss the Petroleum Minister and get the scandal probed by the JPC, Mr Inderjit said. According to the CPM, the BJP had been exposed yet again as a thoroughly self seeking party which never hesitated to indulge in corruption and misuse of government position. Mr Inderjit Singh said the CPM had resolved to take up the matter at its forthcoming two-day state committee meeting on June 30 and chalk out their course of action following the issue and also demand cancellation of all controversial allotments of petrol pumps and gas agencies. |
Grumpy SHO incites people Jhajjar, June 25 The UHBVN officials alleged that
instead of controlling the demonstrators the SHO provoked them to teach a lesson to the power officials who caused harassment to people. Mr Dahiya said the SHO used abusive language and tried to manhandle him and his staff grumbling that “you are the people who installed meters even in the houses of policewalas”.Mr Dahiya explained that at least 200 persons, including women were demonstrating peacefully in front of the powerhouse when he informed the police about the incident. “But to our great surprise”, he further explained,” the police officer reaching the spot started inciting the public to take the law into their hands against the public servants”. As a result the demonstrators turned into a mob and resorted to widespread violence breaking government property and manhandling the UHBVN staff. However, the staff immediately informed the higher officials in Chandigarh, including the Power Commissioner and other officials at the district headquarters. The Superintendent of Police, Jhajjar, later constituted a committee to investigate into the matter. On the basis of the report of this committee the accused SHO was told to go on five days leave, today.
