Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Haryana, at many places in Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at a few places in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: Haryana: New Delhi (Palam) 7, New Delhi (Safdarjung) 6, Kaithal 5, Ayanagar (Delhi) 4, Delhi Ridge, Panipat and Rohtak 3 each and Rewari and Thanesar 2 each; Himachal Pradesh: Nahan 1, Jammu and Kashmir: Pahalgam 1; Punjab: Halwara 3, Patti 2 and Amritsar and Patiala 1 each; Rajasthan: Sriganganagar 3 and Jaipur and Suratgarh 2 each; Uttar Pradesh: Agra, Bareilly, Hindon and Lucknow 1 each; and Uttaranchal: Pantnagar 1.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell markedly in Haryana and Punjab, fell appreciably in West Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, fell in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were largely below normal in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, below normal in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 42.4°C recorded at Churu (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of June 7: Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir, East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in West Rajasthan. Thundersqualls are likely at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of June 7: Light to moderate rain will occur at many places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: no large change.

Squall report: New Delhi (Palam) experienced a west-northwesterly squall at 1.22 p.m. IST on June 4, 2001, with a maximum wind speed of 120 km hour.
