If you can't find water, have soft drinks
This seems to say the govt as most office coolers are faulty
Chandigarh, May 8 — Do not scout around for drinking water to quench your thirst while visiting the public offices at the Sector 17 Estate Office. The reason — most water coolers are out of order and in view of the scorching heat, the public has no alternative but to buy soft drinks from the canteen.

Chandigarh Club polling under tight security
CHANDIGARH, May 8 — Elections for office-bearers of the Chandigarh Club — the biggest social club in the city — were held today peacefully amidst tight security, strict screening of members, last minute canvassing by those in the fray, a minor controversy regarding poll boycott by some members and of course continuous beep of mobile phones.

Mixed response to revision of electoral rolls
CHANDIGARH, May 8 —The second phase of revision of electoral rolls, which began at 524 polling stations, today received a mixed response from the residents of the city. The exercise is being undertaken on the basis of guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. The first phase was held on April 24 and 25.

'88 pc jail inmates are undertrials'
CHANDIGARH, May 8—Following the conclusion of the fourth course on human rights and prison management, being held at the Institute of Correctional Administration, Sector 26, an action plan on implementing human rights in prisons has been planned. The scheme will sensitise prison officers to the requirements of the inmates and motivate them to take initiatives to make improvements in the management of prisons.
