Sting operation exposes AAP, says Dikshit
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 22
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said that sting operation done by some media groups has exposed the Aam Admi Party (AAP) for "raising funds through illegal means".

The sting operation has hurt the people's feeling as when the AAP was created, it had touched the emotions and feelings of general people. But now today it is totally changed, the Chief Minister said in an interactive session organize by Women Press Corps.

Admitting that the party had been able to influence people, she said the bubble around it has now ruptured.

"They influenced people in such a way that people started believing that they will really change ways, thoughts and means of the system, but they are exposed now. So, now time will see what happens next", she said.

The BJP is nearest rival of the Congress in the election. The AAP is not a serious contender. The BJP is an established party, said Dikshit.

Talking about BJP's prime ministerial candidate, the Chief Minister said that he would not have impact on electorates of Delhi.

When asked whether she will move to the Centre if the Congress does not come to power in Delhi, Dikshit said, "If we win, the MLAs will decide who they want as the leader and then the high command will take a call on it. However, if we do not win, of which chances are very less, I will go along with the system till Parliament elections take place. After that whatever I will be given I will do that," she added.

As well as anti-incumbency factor is there, Dikshit said that every contest is tough. "We are contesting the election with a confidence," she said.

When asked about her reaction on the Tehelka episode, she said that it was shocking.

Cong has degraded prestige of India, says Vardhan
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 22
Chief ministerial candidate of the BJP Harsh Vardhan said, "Manmohan and Sonia have degraded the honour of the country. The scams of this government have maligned the image of India".

Harsh Vardhan said that the Manmohan government at Centre has no solution for the problems of the country because their leaders do not have the knowledge of ground realities. During the past 10 years of the Manmohan government and 15 years of the Sheila government, people have suffered due to price rise, corruption and mis-governance.

The BJP government made Delhi free from polio. It was appreciated in the entire world and the international community changed its opinion about India. The BJP government worked for health, education and transport facilities on a long term basis. Price rise was no problem during the BJP rule. People had forgotten ration cards. If the BJP government could continue for more five years, the country would have progressed more, he said.

Vardhan said, "I am confident that after coming to power we will provide employment to youth, safety to women, sanitation in the city and will free Delhi from corruption and price rise.

The BJP will provide an accountable and transparent government to the people of Delhi.

People's participation will be ensured in all the development projects in Delhi. Area-wise policy for the development will be framed and implemented in a time-bound manner.

The BJP today released its first local manifesto for the Delhi Assembly polls for the Model Town constituency from where Ashok Goel is contesting the election.

The Model Town manifesto was released by Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel who said, "The party is releasing local manifestos for assembly constituencies to fix constituency specific accountability. People want local area development programmes and local manifestos.

Local manifesto for Model Town addresses the issues concerning the people of the constituency and BJP's promise to address these issues. Similar manifestos, prepared by respective party candidates for other assembly segments will be released in days to come, he said.

Goel said, "The BJP will release its state-level manifesto in next couple of days. The state-level manifesto has its limitations as it cannot address the specific concerns of all the assembly constituencies. It will reflect the common concerns of all the constituencies and the BJP's positive agenda to address those concerns to bring Delhi on the path of all-round progress."

Pub owners arrested for flouting rules
Five cops suspended for negligence of duty
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 22
After the police raided a pub in Vasant Kunj that was allegedly illegally serving alcohol to people below 25 years of age and was functioning beyond the one am deadline for all pubs in Delhi, three owners of the pub have been arrested and five Delhi Police personnel have been suspended.

The police have arrested Prateek Choudhary, Amit Nagpal and Sarvinder Sehrawat, who are the owners of the pub. The police personnel, who have been suspended, are identified as constables, Kapil, Manish and Madan Pal, head constable Surinder and sub-inspector Pawan. Sources in the police department said that they have been suspended for negligence of duty.

"Disciplinary action will be taken against these personnel," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B. S. Jaiswal.

Senior police officers said that the three owners of the pub were inviting people on Facebook for the party. The party took place at a pub called "Club Billionaire", which is located in front of Kishangarh Kothi.

The police constituted a raiding party consisting of the police, task force and gazetted officers. "We waited outside the pub. The party continued beyond the 1 am deadline and we raided the pub about 2 am," said the officers.

There were about a hundred people, including girls, at the pub. According to the police, there were 13 boys, including minors and those below 25 years of age. The police conducted their medical examination, which confirmed that they had consumed alcohol. "No action was taken against the customers. We let them go," said Jaiswal.

The police have registered a case in regard to the incident. They said that the first offence is that alcohol was being served to people below 25 years of age. The legal drinking age in Delhi is 25 years. Section 42 (selling liquor to minors) of the Delhi Excise Act has been added to the case, because of this offence. The pub was also functioning until 2 am; however, all pubs in Delhi have to be shut by 1 am, according to a government order. The police have therefore added Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code to the case.

The third offence was that the pub did not display its license. This caused the addition of a relevant section of the Delhi Police Act to the case. And due to the noise created by the party at the pub, the police have added another section of the Delhi Police Act.

Failed to rescue minor from red light area, 7 cops suspended
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, November 22
Seven police officers of the Kamla Market police station have been suspended for allegedly showing negligence in rescuing a 15-year-old trafficked girl from a brothel in the red light area, G. B. Road, Delhi.

Two raids were earlier conducted in the second week of November, but the girl from West Bengal could not be found, because the information of the raid was allegedly leaked to the owner of brothel, where she had been kept. It is alleged that the girl was shifted to Shastri Park in east Delhi following a tip-off by the suspended police officers.

The girl was later rescued from a house in the Shastri Park area during a raid on a tip-off provided by the anti-human trafficking NGO, Shakti Vahini.

Four persons, including the brothel owner, have been arrested on charges of trafficking a minor girl and forcing her into prostitution. The girl was trafficked to Delhi on November 6. Her statement has been recorded before a juvenile justice board after her medical examination was conducted.

"The girl in her statement claimed that she was drugged and forced into prostitution," said a police officer investigating the case.
