Bathinda, October 17
A group of 33 students of final year at the department of mechanical engineering, Punjab Technical University Giani Zail Singh Campus, visited a car manufacturing plant of Volkswagen Limited at Pune and K B Springs, Mapusa, Goa.
In a press statement issued here today, Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal, director, stated that two faculty members Deepak Singla and Rohit Goyal accompanied the students.

Pune, is the India’s most automated car manufacturing plant with 70 per cent automation. Students saw fully automated laser-roof welding and assembly line. Manufacturing process was shown from the initial stages of raw material to full assembly line.
KB Springs, Mapusa, Goa, showed the manufacturing process of springs, which included springs of a bicycle and springs being used in ATM machines. The visit was funded under the TEQIP-II scheme.
Prof Surinder Singh, coordinator, mechanical engineering department, said this was first industrial visit to the states of Maharashtra and Goa. Prof. Rajesh Gupta, tour in charge, coordinated the entire activity.
