New Delhi, October 3 “As a country, we have made great progress in medicine and other provisions of health and yet we have a very long way to go,” Ansari said, addressing at the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Holy Family Hospital here. Pointing at Delhi’s healthcare scenario, he said that every morning one can notice long queues of people outside hospitals in Delhi, waiting and praying for their turn. Adding, he said that a healthy workforce can contribute much more to the development of a country than a less healthy one and this link of good health to economy has been established scientifically. “We have very long way to go as compared to other countries and societies which are more fortunate. But that should not be a depressing thought but an invigourating one. We have to travel down that road as quickly as possible,” Ansari stressed. |
DU student’s video clip made

New Delhi, October 3 According to the police, the girl is in her final year of a master’s degree. She reported to the police that she suspects her video clip was made by a male student while she was using the washroom of the department at about 12.30 pm today. In her complaint to the police, the victim claimed that when she was using the washroom, she looked up and saw a person’s hand holding a mobile phone. He was probably recording the inside of the bathroom. The girl’s and the boy’s washrooms are separated by a wall. “The wall is not joined to the roof and this leaves scope for people to peep from either side,” said the victim in her complaint. When she saw the person’s hand, she started shouting. People knocked on the boy’s side of the bathroom, but no one opened it. When they broke the door open, they found no one inside, according to some students. The students claimed that the bathroom had a window that opened to a pipe, leading to the ground. Some lab attendants reportedly saw a person running away, but no one has been recognised. The police have registered a case in regard to the incident under Section 354C (any man who watches, or captures the image of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code at the Maurice Nagar police station. The police are searching for the culprit though the victim is unable to identify him. |

New Delhi, October 3 Holding banners and shouting slogans against the division of the state, the protestors called for ‘saving Andhra Pradesh’. They gathered outside the Prime Minister’s residence, broke the barricades and demanded a united Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place at around 5: 10 pm. The students and activists came in groups and when the number swelled to 25, they started shouting slogans outside the PM’s residence. The policemen put them in a bus and took them to the Tughlaq Road police station. |
Javelin mishap: Students shout slogans, throw stones
New Delhi, October 3 The victim, Roshan Lama, remained critical at the AIIMS Trauma Centre. The police said they have identified the student who allegedly threw the javelin at the victim. He has reportedly fled to Dehradun. The protest began around noon, when Roshan’s parents and acquaintances with 200 people reached the school situated at CR Park market in southeast Delhi. Roshan’s classmates also allegedly joined the group, which then tried to enter the school premises to meet the authorities. They began shouting slogans against the school principal and management. They were demanding his termination and immediate arrest. The group was not allowed to enter the school. Several students allegedly threw stones at passing vehicles. A chartered bus of a private school was damaged in the attack. Private vehicles were also vandalised. The police were informed about the incident after which they reached the spot to bring the situation under control. According to the police, the students allegedly clashed with them and even damaged school property. They barged into the school premises where the wall paintings and furniture were damaged. |
Bhojpuri actor Tiwari joins BJP
New Delhi, October 3 Manoj Tiwari’s coming to the BJP fold reflects the groundswell of support in its favour ahead of the assembly polls in Delhi, Gadkari said. Joining the BJP, Tiwari said, “It is my honour to be received in the BJP by Nitin Gadkari and Vijay Goel as the BJP is set to unseat the insensitive and corruption-ridden Congress government. DMRC opens research lab at DTU
New Delhi, October 3 “Delhi Metro has already made a big impact on improving the transportation system in Delhi and it has become a role model for other states to emulate its benchmarks of success. The safety and welfare of our people and the pride of our nation is core to our hearts and it forms a major focus of the policies and programmes of the government of India,” said Dr Sudhir Krishna, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development and Chairman, DMRC. MCD worker burnt to death
New Delhi, October 3 The victim has been identified as Karan. The police claim that he was an alcoholic. While in a drunken state, he may have been smoking a biddi, which started a fire, engulfing his clothes. Karan lived with his wife, Angori, and younger son, Som. His wife saw smoke bellowing out of his room this morning. She informed Som and the police at about 8 am. The police with two fire tenders reached Karan’s house. It took the firefighters about half an hour to contain the blaze. The police went inside his room and reportedly found open bottles of alcohol. Karan was taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in west Delhi, where doctors declared him dead. |
