Work hard, win Delhi, BJP workers told
New Delhi, September 17 He expressed surprise over 300 per cent increase in the power tariff and 1000 per cent increase in the rate of water in the last four years. The Congress party should see the Gujarat model where the Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, has changed the face of the state during the last 10 years of his rule. Rajnath said Madhya Pradesh had been in the list of backward states earlier. The BJP has been ruling the state for the last four years and now it is one of the developed states. A lot of development is being done in Chhattisgarh also. The UPA government has also accepted in a petition submitted before the Supreme Court that 50 per cent of the national highways were constructed during the NDA rule. Rajnath said, "We are not making efforts to come into power to run the government. We want power to improve society." Speaking on the occasion, Delhi election in-charge, Nitin Gadkari advised the BJP activists to be united at the district as well as state level to win the elections. A large number of activists have started coming to my place for the ticket, but it will be given to those who have a better image and can win the elections. |

Panel to devise norms on e-rickshaws
New Delhi, September 17 It was decided in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to discuss the status of e-rickshaws plying in the city. A need of bringing the rickshaws under regulations was underlined in the meeting so that no government agency, including the police, could harass them. The rickshaw manufacturers and drivers requested the Chief Minister to allow such rickshaws to ply on colony roads to provide connectivity between Metro stations. Dikshit expressed her view that the rickshaws should be continued as these are eco-friendly and suitable to cover the short distances. The meeting was also attended by Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami. "Since, the e-rickshaw manufacturers claim that the rickshaws are powered with 250 W battery, hence, they do not come under motorized vehicle, making it not necessary for any registration, insurance and driving licence," said a senior transport department official. The drivers stated that they are ready to ply under zone system with different colours and only on colony roads without excess passengers. The Chief Secretary has been asked to look into all the requirements and issues being raised by all concerned. |

Giving the perspective from the administrative point of view, SM Khan, former Press Secretary to President APJ Abdul Kalam, argues that when we perceive quick communication, we can infer that today living in isolation is no longer an option.
