Act timely on HC orders, Depts told: The Punjab Government has directed all the departments to act timely on the orders passed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in various cases. An official communication has been issued to the departments to submit consolidated reports in a specific proforma to their administration department regarding action taken by the departments on the orders passed by the High Court on the writ petitions and judgments on which action has not be taken till now.

9 held in Moga for immoral trafficking: The district police has busted a sex racket and arrested five women and four men on Wednesday. An FIR has been registered against them, said Inspector Ravinder Singh, Station House Officer of the city police station. Five injured in roof collapse: Five of a family were injured when the roof of their house collapsed at Badrukhan village, about 3 km from here, on Wednesday morning. The victims were asleep when the roof caved in. House owner Gurjant Singh escaped unhurt but his mother Surjit Kaur (65), wife Gurmeet Kaur (35), daughters Ramandeep Kaur (14), Harmandeep Kaur (12) and son Gursewak Singh (7) were seriously injured. Sarpanch Harbans Kaur has demanded adequate compensation for the affected family. The house was reportedly built about 25 years ago. Patiala girl commits suicide in hostel: Patiala: A 20-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room near level crossing No. 24 late on Tuesday night. The police has registered a case and is investigating the matter to ascertain the reasons for the extreme step. The body has been handed over to the parents of the girl for cremation after the postmortem.
