Violence-hit areas in Gurgaon turn fortress
Gurgaon, August 31 "We have sent reinforcements to instil confidence among the people. The police is looking for 20 persons who have been held responsible for instigating the villagers that led to the violence," said DCP South Rahul Sharma. The police has managed to track all employees of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation who were declared "missing" by the Chandigarh Administration and they have been sent back safely. DC Shekhar Vidyarthi and Commissioner Alok Mittal visited the area. Security was also tightened in Maalpura village of Dharuhera as companies of the CRPF and the RAF were deployed there. The police yesterday nabbed the driver of the truck who claimed that it was meat. The medical examination of the meat has confirmed the driver's claim. Meanwhile, the Haryana Government has issued fresh instructions to the district authorities on cattle transfer from one place to another. It will be mandatory to seek the approval of District Magistrates of the cities for the transfer of cattle. The route will be approved by District Magistrates and the transporters must stick to the same while transferring cattle. The local police under whose jurisdiction the route falls will be liable for security of vehicles and make necessary arrangements for these. They should also be ready to deal with any urgent situation that may erupt. |
Job scam: Police, admn in the dock
Hisar, August 31 A total of 59,554 youth applied for various posts in response to the advertisement issued on September 27 last year by a registered NGO, All-India Organic Farmers' Society (AIOFS), and its subsidiary firm, Organic Farmers Organisation (OFO), cheating the job aspirants of Rs 2.20 crore. However, documents in possession of The Tribune reveal that the police initially dumped the complaints filed by the NCOF, a wing of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Union Agriculture Ministry, its regional office (RCOF) at Hisar, and an RTI activist PP Kapoor, who had alerted the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) by filing an RTI query in this regard the very next day of the advertisement. RTI activist Kapoor, too, approached the Haryana DGP who sent the complaint to the Hisar SP for action. The blatant negligence of the police and the administration provided an opportunity to the NGO to dupe thousands of jobless youth. It could have been avoided had the police taken immediate action to stop the cheats from doing so. Shockingly, not only the police ignored the nefarious activities of the NGO, it apparently botched up the investigation also on the complaints and concluded that no cognisable offence could be made out of these complaints. The city police station SHO gave a clean chit and filed (closed) the case on November 20 after Vinod Beniwal, the main accused in the case, denied the charges. Beniwal was sent to the judicial custody by a local court after completion of his police remand today. How the job seekers were fleeced
Sept 27, 2012 -- AIOFS issued advertisements for 885 posts promising salary ranging from Rs 8,000 to 20,600 Sept 29 --

Kapoor lodged a complaint with the Hisar SP for action into the matter. Same day RCOF, Hisar, also lodged a complaint with the Hisar police while distancing itself from OFO and AIOFS Oct 9 --
The director of NCOF, Dr Krishan Chandra, in a massage to the DC, Hisar, stated that the NGO was not authorised to implement the central scheme. Nov 20 --
SHO, City police, concluded that there was no cognizable offence against the NGO so the police filed (closed) the investigation |
Jind girl cremated after 6 days
Jind, August 31 "The body of the deceased was cremated at around 12.45 pm today at Baniakhera village with a large attendance of local residents,’’ said a district official. He said the SDM of Safidon represented the district administration on the occasion. The confrontation between the protesters and the district authorities came to an end last evening after talks, in which the authorities accepted the main demands, including financial compensation, a probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), withdrawal of cases booked against the protesters and release of three persons who had been arrested by the police in connection with mob violence at the local bus stand on August 25. Earlier in various rounds of talks, the protesters refused to buy the police theory that the girl was neither raped nor murdered and insisted on a postmortem examination at the PGIMS hospital at Rohtak and later at the AIIMS in New Delhi, after the autopsy test conducted at the Civil Hospital failed to establish the charges levelled by the protesters. The issue, however, got a new turn with the disclosure of the viscera examination, conducted at FSL, Karnal. The examination confirmed presence of a poisonous substance in the body at the time of her death and this made the plea of the authorities that the girl was not a victim of rape and murder weak. |
Cop shoots himself; daughter also dies

Woman denied delivery facilities in health centre
Fatehabad, August 31 However, there was no one in the PHC to attend to her and a safai karamchari examined her and told the family to bring her after two hours. When the family members took the woman to the PHC again, there was still no one to attend her and assist her in her delivery. Family members alleged that they requested a nurse present in the PHC to examine the woman, but the nurse said that her duty was in the PHC and not in the delivery hut. After waiting for several hours and with the woman’s condition deteriorating, the family members shifted her to the General Hospital,
Tohana. Angry villagers led by sarpanch Jagvinder Nagra locked the PHC building and demanded shifting of the entire staff. Nagra alleged that the hospital staff had crossed all limits and the villagers would not allow the locks to be opened unless the authorities shifted the staff. The villagers agreed to open the PHC today only after the Civil Surgeon, Dr Suraj
Kamboj, ordered the shifting of an ANM and a pharmacist. |
