Wish for son lands man in jail
Ludhiana, August 10
The police claimed to have unravelled the mystery shrouding the murder of a woman by arresting her husband here today. Police officials said the motive behind the murder was his wish to have a son. The accused and one of his associates have been identified as Rajiv Sharma and Neeraj Sharma respectively. Rajiv used to work as a security guard at the PSPCL feeder whereas Neeraj is a class IV employee at a bank.

A to Z co. blames MC for its poor performance

While the MC officials are not satisfied with the working of A to Z Waste Management Ludhiana Ltd, which has been awarded the contract of solid waste management in the city, the company officials blame the delay in payments for their poor performance.

Pvt hospitals to register births, deaths

Soon, private hospitals will be able to register births and deaths taking place in their respective hospitals on their own. This plan will certainly provide some respite to the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation as the work burden would be eased and paper work would be reduced.

Residents protest against dumping of garbage

Residents of Agwar Ladhai, Kothe Rahlan and some other localities near Bhadarkali Mandir staged a protest against Jagraon Municipal Council (MC) today. The residents were annoyed over the practice of dumping garbage by MC sweepers near their localities.

Ludhiana: Members of the Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam held a press conference to announce the staging Ashvin Gidwani's play, "Two to Tango, Three to Jive", a Hinglish play by Saurabh Shukla on August 24 at the Guru Nanak Bhawan. The play will star Achint Kaur, Sadiya Siddique, Preiti Mamgain and Surabh Shukla.

African national booked
Ludhiana: The city police booked an African national who failed to show his passport during the police investigation here on Friday. The accused has been identified as Ronald O'Malley, a resident of Nairobi Kenya. The accused was handed over to the police by residents of the Tajpur road, who nabbed him suspecting a member of the “African Gang”. During the investigation, the accused failed to show any identification proof. The accused told the police that he had misplaced his passport. When the police asked him to show the report of the missing passport, he could not produce any valid proof. However, the police did not find any criminal record of the accused. The police said the accused claimed that he was a student at Punjab Agricultural University and resides at a hotel in the Bhadaur House area. A case has been registered.
