Surprise checking at Civil Hospital

Jalandhar, July 17
Director, Health Services, Punjab, Dr Ashok Nayyar, paid a surprise visit to the local Civil Hospital late last night. Dr Nayyar, who had served as the medical superintendent at the Jalandhar Civil Hospital five years ago, reached the trauma centre, where he interacted with patients and their attendants and enquired about the problems they faced.

He also visited operation theatres and expressed his concern on the poor hygienic conditions at the place. He inspected the CT scan machine, X-Ray machines and other equipment in the hospital. He also had a look at the registers and other records at the centre.

He called the Civil Surgeon, Dr RL Bassan, and the medical superintendent, Dr Bhagmal Singh, to the hospital and pulled up the officials, including the medical officer on emergency duty for the poor maintenance of the hospital.

Sources in the department revealed that Dr Nayyar paid the surprise visit on the complaints of certain patients and areas residents.

He asked the MS and the Civil Surgeon to keep the hospital and other facilities in a proper order and extend every facility and medicines to the patients as per the government guidelines. — TNS
