Do away with Darbar Move: NPP
Jammu, April 23 “The Darbar Move practice was started in 1872 by Maharaja Ranbir Singh. At that time, it was the need of the hour because means of communication were less and information technology was poor. So the steps taken by the Maharaja to provide governance at the doorstep of the Kashmiri was right but in the present times, it’s a wasteful exercise,” Balwant Singh Mankotia, state president, NPP, told reporters here. Mankotia suggested that it (Civil Secretariat and other administrative departments) should work on the pattern of J&K High Court - the Civil Secretariat should work round the year at both places (Srinagar and Jammu) without moving files. He wondered if J&K High Court could work at both the places, why the Civil Secretariat couldn’t? “Wasteful expenditure of more than Rs 300 crore occurs on the Darbar move exercise, which can be used for development of the state as well as for full salary to the youth who would get employment under new recruitment policy at less than half the salary,” the NPP leader said, adding that the Panthers Party was taking up this issue on roads, in the court and in
the Assembly. Mankotia said the government had issued an order for Darbar move from April 26 and that was the reason to hold a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan on April 25 — so that the Governor directs the state government not to shift the files related to
Jammu province. |

He said a separate homeland for the minority community in the Valley is the only solution to the imbroglio. “The recent misleading statement of the Home Minister about the Pandit community is a manifestation of this malicious
campaign against the displaced members. The community is on the roads because of the follies of the government,”
he said. He alleged that the community is being subjected to apartheid in its own state. The decision to disqualify the community youth, who are otherwise eligible to apply, from the Project Udhaan, is fundamentally aimed at to exclude the Kashmiri Pandit displaced community from the socio-economic milieu of the Jammu and Kashmir state, it was

Jammu, April 23 Dr OD Sharma, general secretary, JKBA, while confirming the development, told The Tribune, “We have submitted a proposal of Rs 11.50 lakh to the Sports Council for
its approval and I am pretty hopeful that it will be done.” “The last the state hosted the north zone championship was way back in 2006.
