Thane building collapse: 74 dead, builders to appear in court today
Two builders, Jameel Qureshi and Saleem Shaikh, who were arrested in connection with the collapse of a seven-floor building that killed 74 people and injured over 60, in Thane will appear in court on Sunday. Of the 62 injured, 36 have been admitted to hospitals in Thane, Kalwa and Mumbra. The seriously injured have been shifted to JJ and Sion Hospitals in Mumbai. Also, seven people have been arrested in the case that has exposed thriving illegal construction business.



India not a beehive, but our mother: Modi on Rahul Gandhi
Commenting on the remarks of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that the country is not a beehive but a mother nation for his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Earlier on Friday (April 05) while addressing the corporate captains at the annual meet of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Gandhi had postulated that India was buzzing with the energy and aspirations of a billion people like a beehive.



India needs strong justice delivery system: PM
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while inaugurating the joint conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justice of High Court in New Delhi on Sunday stressed on the fact that the country needs a strong justice delivery system. Singh added that the country needs more judges to administer timely justice.



Maoists blow up railway tracks in Jharkhand
Train passengers had a close shave on Sunday after Maoists blew up railway tracks in Latehar district of Jharkhand leading to stranding of several trains on the second day of the statewide shutdown. According to media reports Maoists blew up the tracks at around 10.30 PM on Saturday, about half-an-hour before the scheduled passage of important passenger trains like Rajdhani Express.
