Earlier, sobbing Rajni informed in detail how ASI Kewal Singh and a head constable misbehaved with her, pushed her to a wall and thrashed her father-in-law when a police party without any woman constable raided her house during night a few days ago. Her husband and current sarpanch Iqbal Singh alleged that he and his several supporters had been wrongly booked in an attempt-to-murder case under Section 307 of the IPC about two months ago at the behest of the then SHO Jaswinderpal Singh. Iqbal Singh alleged that Jaswinderpal Singh wanted to teach him and his supporters a lesson as he had been transferred from the Lambra police station on his complaint, but was reinstated at the behest of an Akali leader.
The sarpanch also alleged that several of his supporters had also been tortured by the police during their confinement. Later talking to The Tribune regarding lodging of an FIR against erring policemen, SSP said appropriate action would be taken against the guilty personnel after getting a report of a special investigating team (SIT) constituted in this regard. The SIT, headed by SP (D) Rajinder Singh, comprising DSP Kartarpur Jasbir Singh Rai and EOW inspector Paramjit Singh, is looking into the allegations of alleged misbehaviour of the personnel with the woman and registration of a false FIR under Section 307 of the IPC against the sarpanch and his supporters. Hayre stated that Lambra SHO Jaswinderpal Singh and ASI Kewal Singh had already been shifted to the Police Lines and a regular departmental inquiry had been marked to SP (HQ) Mukhwinder Singh against them. Meanwhile, the SSP said the other party had also met IG Gurpreet Deo and submitted a complaint in this regard and the police was also looking into their complaint. Earlier, a member of the State Commission for SC, Parkash Singh Gardiwala, also asked the district police chief to take appropriate and immediate action in this case after hearing the aggrieved party.
