Molestation accused surrenders: Three weeks after an 11-year-old student was allegedly molested by a middle-aged man and the police registered a criminal case, the accused on Friday surrendered before the Kotkapura police after the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected his anticipatory bail. The District and Sessions Judge,
Faridkot, had declined pre-arrest bail to the accused on March 4.

Man booked for sodomy: Tripuri police has registered a case against new Yadavindra Colony resident Sahil Kumar for allegedly sodomising a two-year-old boy. According to the victim’s father, the accused Sahil rented a house with them. The boy’s father field the complaint. The police has registered a case against the accused under sections 377 and 506 of the IPC and is awaiting the medical examination report of the victim.

Shaheed Udham Singh’s nephew dies: Inder Singh (76), a nephew of Shaheed Udham Singh, on Friday died after a prolonged illness at Sunam, around 13 km from here. He is survived by two sons. He was cremated in Sunam. Ravinder Singh Cheema, Vice chairman of Punjab Mandi Board, was among others who attended the cremation ceremony. He expressed grief over the death of Inder Singh and sympathised with the bereaved family.

9 injured in clash: Nine persons, including a woman, were injured in a violent clash between two groups of SAD workers at Kacha-Pakka village, around 40 km from here, on Friday. The two groups clashed as one wanted to remove the local gurdwara granthi Kashmir Singh while the other supported him. Baldev Singh opened fire during the fight and injured Kashmir Singh’s wife Jagjit Kaur. KS Dhillon, SSP, said strict action would be taken against the accused.
