Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister A wide range of discretionary powers enjoyed by ministers at the Centre are being abolished, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee disclosed here today. Mukherjee, who chaired a Group of Ministers (GoM) on dealing with corruption, said that the group had submitted its recommendations.

Yeddyurappa to quit today

After the high drama yesterday when it appeared that a rebellion would break out in the state BJP over the removal of BS Yeddyurappa from the Chief Minister’s post, the situation took a more sober turn today with Yeddyurappa reiterating that he would resign tomorrow.

Now, comics to bring war heroes to life

The names of Indian Army war heroes will soon be on the lips of children across the country. The Indian Army has taken a cue from the Western concept of narrating tales of war heroes to its young ones. India’s 1.3 million-strong Army - the second largest in the world - intends to hire professionals who will tell wartime stories through illustrated storybooks (comics) and animation.
