Gurbaksh Singh being beaten up by his son and relatives in his house at Shimlapuri High drama was witnessed in the Shimlapuri area here this morning after a man was allegedly thrashed for keeping his wife captive in the house for 20 days. After being freed by her son and relatives, 46-year-old Baljeet Kaur said her husband Gurbaksh Singh had confined her to the house since July 11.

VC suspends senior faculty member
Ludhiana, July 30
In what seems to be a strong message being sent out to the faculty and staff members of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) against corruption, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr BS Dhillon, has suspended Dr VK Bambota from the Directorate of Extension Education.

Poll code forces Gabria to make quick exit

The old foundation stone ot the community centre that was uprooted; and (right) the new one that was installed at BRS Nagar in Ludhiana Protest against the inauguration of the main hall of a community centre in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar by a few residents has forced office-bearers of the Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar (East) Welfare Society to postpone it today. The function was scheduled for today evening and Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria besides a few senior Akali leaders were supposed to take part in it.
