After 15 meetings over eight months, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, examining the 2G Spectrum allocation issue, today indicted former Telecom Minister A Raja for telling half the truth to the Prime Minister and misleading him to execute his unfair plans. The 270-page draft report circulated to 21 PAC members concluded that Raja disregarded the considered advice of the Prime Minister

Air India sacks 6 striking pilots
New Delhi, April 27
The Air India (AI) management today declared illegal a flash strike by a section of its pilots, de-recognised the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and sacked six union leaders. The 800-odd striking pilots belong to the erstwhile Indian Airlines and owe allegiance to the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA). The merged entity-NACIL-has about 1,200 pilots.

The ministry today asked the two companies to extend the validity of their commercial bids that are slated to expire tomorrow.

Footballer kicked to death after dispute over goal in Phagwara

A football match at Lovely Professional University’s (LPU) Chiherru campus near here took an ugly turn last evening with players from the losing Sudanese team thrashing a Mizoram player, resulting in his death. The incident took place around 7.30 pm during a semi-final match of the ongoing Lovely Professional League. 

Lobsang Sangay to be Tibetan Prime Minister

As the controversy rages over the date of birth (DoB) of Army Chief General VK Singh, the Defence Ministry has asked the army to explain the long-term implications if the ‘anomaly’ in the DoB is corrected. The Defence Ministry will take a final call on the issue. Before that it wants the Army to spell out the implications that will occur in the future.
