Rahul hops onto Mumbai trains to snub Shiv Sena
Mumbai, February 5
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai on Friday.
Unfazed by the Shiv Sena’s threat to disrupt his itinerary in Mumbai, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today addressed students at a suburban hall, mingled with residents of a slum and changed commuter trains like scores of residents of this metropolis.

Pak insists on discussing Kashmir
PC’s visit deferred after Nepal seeks postponement
New Delhi, February 5
Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik today discussed with Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao the dates for talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries and later insisted that the Kashmir issue must form part of the dialogue.

Petrol, diesel prices up in Punjab
Chandigarh, February 5
Punjab has imposed a surcharge of 10 per cent on the exiting tax on petrol and diesel in the state taking the price per litre of petrol up from Rs 1.06 to Rs 1.10 in different districts and diesel by 0.26 paise. The increase will be effective from midnight today.

CBI seeks maximum sentence for Rathore
Chandigarh, February 5
The counter appeal filed by the CBI for the enhancement of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore’s sentence in the Ruchika Girhotra case has been committed to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raj Shekhar Attri. It will be taken up for hearing on February 8. It will be simultaneously heard with the appeal filed by Rathore against his conviction.

Militants fire at crowd after Friday prayers, kill 2
Srinagar, February 5
Two persons, including a policeman, were killed and two others injured when militants attacked a police party in the main market of Sopore in Baramulla district this afternoon.
