Manmohan was doubtful of victory from Punjab: BJP
Our Correspondent

Hoshiarpur, April 26
In a fresh attack on Manmohan Singh, the BJP leadership has said the PM was doubtful of his victory due to which he turned down the PPCC’s invitation to fight the Lok Sabha elections from Punjab.

Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, BJP National General Secretary and party observer for Punjab Balbir Punj said the PM was neither elected by the electorates nor by the elected representatives. He was thrust upon the nation by a single person of the Congress, he added.

Punj was campaigning in favour of the SAD-BJP alliance candidate Som Parkash in Hoshiarpur (reserved) Lok Sabha seat.

According to him, the NDA is constantly heading towards achieving majority to form the government under the leadership of L.K. Advani.

When asked to comment on the diminished impact of recession in India due to the economic policies of the Prime Minister, when almost all the other countries had been facing severe recession, Balbir Punj said if all the policies of the PM had been implemented, the country would have been ruined. He gave credit to the policies of Y.V. Reddy, Governor of Reserve Bank of India, due to which the country had remained safe from economic recession.

Replying to a question, he said no doubt Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was a capable person for the post of the Prime Minister but presently Lal Krishan Advani was the senior most and most suitable candidate for the coveted post.

Economist PM failed on price front’

Despite having an economist Prime Minister like Dr. Manmohan Singh at the Centre, the prices of essential commodities have gone up manifold in the past some time. This has left the common man with no option but to bear the brunt of the wrong policies of the Union Government.

These thoughts were expressed by Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia during a press conference here today. “The PM has surrendered his economist acumen before the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Left parties as a result of which there is a steep hike in the prices of essential commodities,” he added.

“The PM has proved to be a failure in saving the interests of the common man,” he said appealing the electorate to vote out the Congress government from Centre for a stable economy. He also ensured that if voted to power the NDA government would usher in a new era of development with better opportunities for the common man. — TNS
