Bangladeshi President Iajuddin Ahmed consulted feuding party leaders today to try to defuse a mounting crisis over forming a caretaker government to steer the nation through to January general elections.

Haryana steps up fight against HIV
Sets up 22 counselling and testing centres 
Chandigarh, October 29
Conforming to the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS), draft guidelines for the National AIDS Control Programme and with the objective of spreading awareness about the disease among vulnerable populations, the Haryana Government has set up 22 Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres at Government General Hospitals and Community Health Centres in the state.

Colonel dismissed for leaking information
Chandigarh, October 29
A general court martial has dismissed a colonel from service over the leak of highly sensitive military information, which was reportedly passed on to Pakistani intelligence by an army jawan posted as a clerk in his office, it is learnt.

Sonia admits to differences on women’s Bill

Complaints against Judges made easy in new Bill
New Delhi, October 29
The Judges Inquiry Bill, likely to be introduced in Parliament during the winter session, starting from November 22, makes a major departure from the 1968 Act, which laid down the procedure for removing a Supreme Court or a High Court Judge from his post through an impeachment motion for any misconduct.
