Sadhu claimed to be Netaji before death

Guna, October 29
An inquiry has started into the claim by an elderly ‘sadhu’, who died on October 27, of being Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Collector G.K. Saraswat told UNI here that Lalji Baba of Saiji village had disclosed to former Sarpanch Gajendra Singh Raghuvanshi that he was ‘Netaji’ while returning from Guna after undergoing treatment on October 27.

Lalji, who used to claim that he was over 100 years old, had asked Mr Raghuvanshi not to reveal his ‘’identity’’ to any one.

Superintendent of Police Anil Gupta said the Shadora Station House Officer had been sent to collect preliminary facts and further action will be taken if some evidence was found.

Lalji had wanted to be buried instead of being cremated.

Prior to death, Lalji had provided Mr Raghuvanshi several books. He was living in the area for the past 50 years and in Saiji village for the past 30 years. — UNI
