Art teachers assn: The following have been chosen office-bearers of the Government College of Art Teacher’s Service Association: president-Dr Anand Kumar Sharma; vice- president-Mr Karamjit Singh Sahi; general secretary-Mr Mahesh Prajapati; joint secretary-Mr Ravinder Kumar Sharma; treasurer-Mr Anand Shende; and executive members-Mrs Manisha Gupta, Dr Manish Arora, Mr Manmadha Rao and Mr Rakesh Bani.

PU association: The following have been chosen office-bearers of the Panjab University ‘C’ Class Association for 2006: president-Mr Kartar Singh; vice- president-Mr Girdhari Lal; general secretary-Mr Rama Nand; joint secretary-Mr Angrez Singh Guleria; treasurer-Mr Sabhapati; and executive members-Amarjit, Braham Singh, Deep Chand, Kaml Singh, Kauri Devi, Manorath Mathews, Paras, Raj Kumar and Sunil Dutt.

VENUE changed: Due to the rain, the venue of tomorrow’s kirtan darbar being organised by the Punjab and Sind Bank has been changed. Mr Jaswant Singh, Administrative Officer at the local head office of the bank, said instead of Sector 17 Bank Square, the kirtan darbar would now be held at the Sector 8 gurdwara. The timings remain the same.

Best panchayat
: The panchayat of Raipur Rodan has been declared as the best panchayat in the district for doing excellent work in the field of education. The panchayat was selected as the best by a district-level committee constituted for the purpose. In order to encourage the other gram panchayats, the government will give Rs 50,000 to the panchayat as award for its contribution.

Rewari
Youth looted
: Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Khuddan village, was looted of Rs 28,500 allegedly by a woman at her dwelling in Shastri Nagar here where he spent the night on Wednesday. It is stated that the youth had gone with her to her dwelling. However, the next morning he was shocked to find that his pocket, which contained Rs 28,500, had been emptied.

Seminar on human rights
: A seminar on human rights will be organised by Government Post-Graduate College at Bachat Bhavan here on March 11 and 12. Over 24 scholars have been invited to speak and present their papers, according to college Principal SP Sharma.

Kulu
Insurance scheme
: A group insurance scheme has been launched for handloom weavers in Himachal Pradesh. Mr Ghanshyam Chand, GM, District Industries Centre here, said here on Wednesday that the scheme had been introduced for the benefit of weavers and their children. He said a premium of Rs 80 would cover Rs 50,000 on natural death and Rs 80,000 in case of accidental death. The insurance also covers the risk of losing limbs for which Rs 50,000 is payable.
