J&K terrorist held in Goa

Mumbai, March 10
Goa came face to face with terrorism this evening with the arrest of Tariq Anwar, a resident of Srinagar, with huge quantities of explosives.

The police said Anwar was arrested at 8.30 this evening at the Margao railway station. Two kg of RDX, several detonators, a camera flash and several bits of equipment were seized from his possession.

According to the SP, South, Goa, Mr S.M. Prabhudessai, Anwar’s arrest has sent the state police on high alert. Anwar told the police that he had obtained explosives in Srinagar which he brought to New Delhi and boarded the Nizamuddin to Ernakulam train with his cargo.

Anwar then got off at Margao where he was intercepted. He told the police that an explosive expert from a Kashmir-based terrorist group would arrive in Goa in the next few days and help set off explosions in Goa. The police is now hunting for Anwar’s associates, the police said.

Anwar told the police that he had obtained special training in urban warfare in a Pakistan.
