Disinvestment
of BHEL put on hold

The UPA government
today sought to placate the Left parties by formally
communicating its decision to place the disinvestment of
Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited on hold. Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh wrote to Congress President Sonia
Gandhi informing her about the government’s decision to
keep the BHEL issue in abeyance.

Union Minister Ravishanker Prasad sustained serious injuries
on his left arm when an unidentified gunmen shot at him at a
party election meeting at Nokha in Sasaram today.
BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, being rushed to a hospital in a helicopter after he was shot at during an election rally in Sasaram district, Bihar, on Thursday.

embarrassment to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh
Yadav for appointing “tainted” IAS officer Neera Yadav
as Chief Secretary of the state superseding some other
officers, the Supreme Court today ordered her removal and
transfer to certain other cadre post within seven days.
