Relations between
Left parties and the UPA today touched a new low with the
Communists deciding to stay away from the coordination
committee meetings as the Congress-led coalition
government has decided to go ahead with the disinvestment
of 10 per cent of its stake in the
profit-making public
sector undertaking BHEL.

the Sutlej survived yet another nightmare as flash floods caused by
excessive melting of glaciers passed through a 200 km stretch of the

Rain gods virtually poured their hearts out this morning,
making millions of people across the region extremely happy.
Farmers in particular welcomed the rain. “It appears, the
curse of the heat wave is over as the rain gods have taken
over”, said Naratta Singh, a farmer of Dhareri Jattan, near
Patiala. |

The annual revenue from the illicit
drug trade, one of the biggest criminal enterprises in Punjab, runs into
