Pink City losing peace
Tribune News Service

Jaipur, June 26
Despite the Vasundhara Raje government having embarked upon a number of ambitious programmes of beautification to attract a larger number of domestic and foreign tourists, the Pink City, known for its placid social environs, no longer enjoys the reputation of being a peaceful place.

In the recent months, crime incidents in the city have increased considerably.

Apart from crimes like looting money, snatching chains of women in daylight, incidents of rape and murder are a common occurrence. On an average, one murder is committed almost every week in the city.

While several members of the business community have been victims of theft, dacoity, murder and kidnapping, the ghastly murder of a businessman, Yuvraj Jain, living in the Sethi Colony of the state capital, on Wednesday has created a fear psychosis in the minds of residents.

Earlier, chemist Amit Choudhary and jeweller Manish Gupta of the same colony were also murdered.

When the Chief Minister, Ms Vasundhara Raje, went to console the bereaved family members of the deceased, the wife of Yuvraj Jain furiously reacted condemning the law and order situation and the failure of the police to arrest the criminals.
