A National Conference corporator was shot dead this morning in downtown Srinagar by suspected militants, official sources said here.
Bonanza for bank staff Chandigarh, June 3
Employees of public sector banks are in for a bonanza as their salaries are set to rise. The existing basic pay and the dearness allowance is to be merged as one. Also the new DA will be 18 per cent for all employees, including officers. The new formula will be applicable from July.
Adding to all this will be increase in various slabs for house rent allowance, stagnation allowance and city compensatory allowance.

Magistrate of Patna Gautam Goswami, who has been evading
arrest in the multi-crore flood relief scam, today applied
for anticipatory bail in a special court here. Goswami’s lawyer Tuhin Shankar filed the petition in the court of Designated Vigilance Judge J M Prasad, who is likely to take it up for hearing tomorrow.

As many as 1,654
candidates have been placed in the merit list and the
same number on the wait list in the CBSE’s All India
Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination. Successful
candidates were chosen from 17,108 students who had
qualified for the final examination conducted on May 15,
CBSE said while announcing the results.

It has been the longest night for Jagat Singh and Tej Kaur, parents of Sukhwinder Kaur Sukhi, a mountaineer from the city who, got stuck on the Mount Everest. Though unconfirmed reports of Sukhi returning to the base camp have relieved her parents to some extent, they are still tense.
