The UPA Chairman and AICC President, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, today accused the BJP-led NDA of not “behaving like a responsible Opposition” and “not being honest”, as a result of which a number of important pieces of legislation like the Employment Guarantee Scheme Bill had been held up in Parliament. Marandi’s outburst embarrasses BJP

After senior party leader and former Gujarat Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari’s embarrassing outburst on the Gujarat riots and state Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP today suffered fresh convulsions with former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi revolting against the central leadership over the appointment of Mr Yadunath Pandey as state BJP unit president.

Brother of ex-Hizb chief shot dead
Srinagar, May 14
Militants today shot dead Abdul Gani Bhat, brother of former top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Zaffar Abdul Fateh, outside his residence in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area, a senior police official said here. Bhat was shot at and grievously injured by militants at around 10.30 a.m.

SGPC panel to review ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’
Amritsar, May 14
In a major setback to the sub-committee constituted by Akal Takht which had given ‘clean chit’ to the controversial Hindi film, ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today constituted a 15-member panel of Sikh intellectuals which would submit its report on the movie on May 19.
