12 detected with mild jaundice

The district health authorities today sent eight water samples, collected from a jaundice-affected locality, to the Bacteriology Laboratory, Chandigarh, for testing. The authorities have asked the laboratory to test the samples as early as possible and send its report to them.
Maqool and Tahira, who were the first couple to get married across the Indo-Pakistan border after resumption of peace talks between the two countries, with their new-born baby. Tahira is still waiting for grant of Indian nationality. The couple live in Qadian, about 50 km from Amritsar.

Restaurants found wanting, challaned

One restaurant was caught with cockroaches moving freely in its deep freezer even as 15 others were challaned for various violations of the Municipal Act, including poor sanitary conditions, during a surprise check on restaurants and hotels in the city today.

Road mishap leaves 12 injured |
Kharar, October 26
Twelve persons were injured, two of them seriously, in an accident involving three vehicles near Basanwali Chungi here this morning.
While 10 persons received minor injuries, two of them who were travelling in an Army jeep, were taken to a private hospital from where they were referred to the Command Hospital, Chandi Mandir.

Camp to promote hyola cultivation
