Asks Assam to initiate peace process
New Delhi, October 21
Expressing its willingness to hold tripartite talks with militant group Nationalist Democratic Front of Bodoland, the Centre today asked Assam Government to begin the peace process with “restrained use of force”.

NC leader shot dead in Anantnag
Srinagar, October 21
Unidentified gunmen shot dead a National Conference leader and former minister, Safdar Ali Beigh in his home-town, Anantnag, this afternoon.
According to the police Safdar Ali Beigh was shot at by some unidentified gunmen near a shop at Sarnal in Anantnag town at 2-50 p.m.

The Election Commission today decided to send a fresh team of officials to visit Mainpuri to examine all relevant records of the entire Lok Sabha constituency following allegations of large-scale rigging and booth capturing in the October 13 byelection there.
