CELEBRATIONS: Pearls Nursery School celebrated Dasehra on the school premises on Thursday. Tiny tots came dressed as Ram, Sita, Laxman, Ravan and Hanuman. They were excited to see Ravan’s effigy. They were told the importance of the festival. The effigy was burnt indicating the victory of good over evil. 

HELIANTHUS SCHOOL: Dasehra was celebrated at Helianthus Day Bording School on Thursday. Teachers and students performed dandia. Tiny tots staged a drama narrating the story of Ramayana Aarti, Daisy, Renu directed the play. Ayush and Navjot acted as Rama and Sita, respectively, while Amisha acted as Laxman.

SEMINAR: A seminar for teachers on computer education was held at Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar. Master trainer Preeti Arora said the training was aimed at fusion of latest technology in regular classroom teaching. Sixteen teachers from different schools of Ludhiana, Bathinda and Ramdas attended the programme.

FUNCTION: Ms Daljit Kaur Daun’s book, “Dharat Kaleja Peer” will be released and a kavi darbar, will be organised on October 24 at Govt Sr Sec School, Samrala, said Prof Hamdardveer Nausheharvi, a noted writer. The presidium of the programme will include Prem Gorkhi of the Punjabi Tribune, Jagmohan Kaushal of Buniyaad, Darshan Mitwa of Udaan Rana, Prof Baldeep and Dr Parminder Singh. Prof Hamdardvir Nausheharvi will offer insights into his recent visit to Mumbai, Ajanta, Ellora, Aurangabad, Daulatabad etc, said Prof Baldeep here on Thursday.

APPOINTMENT: Senior Akali Leader Jathedar Mohinder Singh Bhanglan, has been nominated as a member of the Ropar Telephone Advisory Committee. His appointment was welcomed by the local Akali leaders.

Karnal
PADAYATRA: Mr Harvinder Kalyan, secretary, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, has announced to launch a 15-day padayatra in 104 villages of Gharaunda block in Karnal district as part of the Jan Jagran Abhiyaan of the Congress. He said he would begin his padayatra on October 24, from Kutail village. During the yatra he would focus on socio-economic problems of the villagers.

Panipat
KILLED: An unidentified person was killed in a road accident on the G.T. Road here on Wednesday. The body was sent to the Civil Hospital. The police was investigating the matter.

Sirsa
INJURED: Seven persons were injured in a clash over a piece of land here on Wednesday. Gurdial Singh and his accomplices attacked Babu Ram, members of his family and workers when they were going to fields.

Sonepat
STOLEN: A motor cycle was stolen from a parking lot at a masjid in Ganaur town, 16 km from here, on Thursday. The motor cycle was belonged to Mr Asghar Khan, a resident of BST colony.

DEMANDED:
A deputation of the district unit of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees Union met the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday, they demanded that the culprits who were responsible for the murder of assistant lineman, Shankar Singh at Deoth should be arrested. He had been missing since September 27 and his body was recovered from a pond of the village on September 29.

Solan
DEAD: Bhushan Kumar Vij (75), a resident of Rajgarh, died here on Wednesday. He slipped while trying to alight from a train and sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Sundernagar
DISPENSARY: The Ayurvedic dispensary in Dhanyara gram panchayat has been functioning without a doctor. Residents of the area have been facing problems.
